Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an Omega-6 Fatty Acid. Omega-6 Fatty Acids are considered essential Fatty Acids. They are necessary for human health, but the body cannot make them. You have to get them through food. Along with Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Omega-6 Fatty Acids play a crucial role in brain function, normal growth and development. Also known as polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs), they help stimulate skin and hair growth, maintain bone health, regulate metabolism and maintain the reproductive system**.

Gamma Linolenic Acid is found in plant seed oil such as Evening Primrose Oil**. Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) is an herbal extract found in the plant's seeds of Oenothera Biennis, it is high in essential Fatty Acids like Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). Essential fatty acids, such as Omega-6s found in EPO and Omega-3s found in fish oil, are used as building blocks for a number of molecules in the body. Your body needs a balance of Omega-6 and Omega-3 Fatty Acids for good health**.

Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) is traditionally used for a wide range of ailments such as premenstrual and menopausal symptoms in women, particularly breast pain. Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) has been tested in clinical trials for such conditions as eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, various cancers, Raynaud's phenomenon, ulcerative colitis, pre-eclampsia, schizophrenia and hyperactivity. Arthritis Research UK says polyunsaturated Omega-6 Fatty Acids in Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) help in controlling pain and inflammation due to arthritis**.

What is it made of?

Evening Primrose Oil is extracted from the seeds and prepared as medicine using a chemical called Hexane. The seeds contain up to 25% essential Fatty Acids, including Linoleic Acid (LA) and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). Both Linolenic acid (GLA) and Gamma Linolenic acid (GLA) are Omega-6 Fatty Acids. The body needs a balance of Omega-6s and Omega-3s (found in Fish oil) to stay healthy**.

EPO has gained popularity as a way to treat hot flashes associated with menopause**.
